I have this in an 8 weight and it's an incredible, friendly caster. Obviously the action is key but i feel like the guides are part of it, they're like superconductors. You're in your kitchen and just move the rod as you walk toward the door and two feet of line will shoot out of it! Theres like zero resistance. I have other rods i can cast a few feet further on occasion but i can always cast the Session well it's just hard to screw up.

So, does the 803 have a slimmed-down cork grip compared to the other 4-5 wt models? My hand doesn’t change size just because I want to fish a 3-weight, so I was hoping the cork diameter would be the same. For example I was disappointed to find out the G series 843 has a skinny cork grip next to the other models in that series. There really isn’t any functional reason to slim down the cork on lighter, shorter fly rods, it makes us folks with larger hands have to over-clutch (like trying to grip a pencil all day). And also, Scott dealers are telling us the grips are the same diameter for every model in a series, and it’s just not true. I am hoping you will pass on that message.

Good question. It really depends on what you're tying. We recommend a sighter-plate for those, who would like an even contrasty background when tying flies.

If you need to to explain it to this degree you have failed. Fishpond got it right with their belt, they just need some sort of yoke and a clip on back pack, job done ultimate modular system.

Seems like a "solution" looking for a problem. Molle was more secure than this crap that some marketing team came up with.
Marketing teams don't come up with product ideas. They only come up with ideas for how to advertise them. This hexgrid system is just a more flexible, multi-directional MOLLE/PALS web. Regular MOLLE is fine for the vast majority of uses, but occasionally there are situations where mounting things at an angle can be beneficial. Remember, these things aren't designed for fly fishing. They're designed for military applications, where the ease and quickness of accessing gear can literally be the difference between life and death. 5.11 probably created this because they were hearing a lot of feedback from users saying they wanted a "solution" like this.
